Projects from the JPDO
I spent about 5 years contracting with the Joint Planning & Development Office (JPDO) – the temporary multi-agency public/private program office created to plan and coordinate the development of the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen).

While working with the JPDO I was involved with several large scale communications initiatives.
One of the more exciting projects was an animated video to be displayed at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center for ten years, explaining ADS-B. I worked with multiple stakeholders and aviation experts to create an engaging and educational video.

While there, I supported all JPDO communications: from print documents to ‘OV-1’ operational graphics to agency branding. I made public-facing website updates and was briefly the only web-developer on staff in between full time developers.
There were many times when working with stakeholders that we decided that a flowchart was less confusing when put together into an animation. In these cases we would work together to create something that describes the information more clearly using motion graphics. In the examples below you can see the full flowchart at the end is almost aggressively complicated – but breaking it down into sections helps to have it make more sense (although my apologies that I don’t have the finished versions with voice over).
I made a lot of illustrations to simplify complicated ideas. Below is a sampling of some of that work.
